RESEARCH PROJECT
DC9
CS WELDING WITH FINE GEOMETRICAL AND FUNCTIONAL CONTROL
Objective
- To develop a numerical model for predicting the deposition shape as a function of spray, powder and weld parameters
- To identify the efficient way of optimizing the deposit shape to fill the gap
- To find the optimal welding strategy for enhanced wear and corrosion resistance
Expected Results
- Defining the correlation between process parameters, deposition efficiency and weld strength
- Developing a benchmark depending on weld joint type and material to tailor its shape and performance
- Evaluating the effect of post processing in enhance bond strength
Enrollment
POLIMI within PhD programme in Mechanical Engineering
Planned Secondment
- Titomic (NA), Mr. Touwen, Month 14 (3) optimizing deposition strategies to design and control shape for different weld geometries
- HiLase (A), Dr. Pathak, Month 28 (3) developing laser-based post-processing treatments based on the developed residual stresses
