DC11
FEEDSTOCK POWDER MODIFICATION AND ITS EFFECT ON DEPOSITION MECHANISM

Objective

  1. To understand the gas atomized microstructure of different metallic powders
  2. To homogenize the microstructure of gas atomized powder through customized complex, multistage heat treatments
  3. To optimize the mechanical properties of CS deposits obtained from the modified powders

Expected Results

  1. A detailed understanding of the phases, grains, strains and orientation of a gas atomized metallic powder
  2. Investigating the effect of heat treatment on homogenization and strain distribution of the powder
  3. Evaluating the bonding mechanisms of a modified feedstock
  4. Mechanical characterization of deposits prepared from modified feedstock

Enrollment

Planned Secondment
